TrueNorth was chosen based on our successful history partnering with financial services companies, experience in building software on abbreviated timelines and expertise with hyper-growth enterprises. 

TrueNorth first established goals and priorities to scale in two phases:

Phase 1: Redesign the customer portal. 



Objective: Elevate user experience and efficiencies. 

The Unison HomeBuyer app was built to help buyers fund initial down payments, and to help existing homeowners convert up to 17.5% of their home value into cash—without interest or a single monthly payment. 

Phase 2: Strengthen the backend.
Objective: Accommodate the exponential growth.  

The team leveraged microservices on top of AWS using Docker and serverless architectures to accommodate massive scale. This also allowed enhancements in Salesforce functionalities, MVC applications, and the native iOS app. Tools to measure code coverage and Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines were implemented to ensure continuity in delivery and quality assurance automation. 

• Improved the customer experience through the transformation of 2 mobile apps, contributing to Unison’s partnership with more than 75,000 customers.
• Achieved efficiency at scale in common business tasks with a backend platform transformation to help Unison co-invest in homes worth $5 billion across America.
• After TrueNorth completed their work, Forbes recognized Unison’s innovation with a listing in their 2020 Fintech 50.
